Standards
Editorial standards
How FrameSignal researches, confirms and presents the news, and how we correct it when we get something wrong. These standards apply to every story published since Oct. 3, 2026. Some earlier stories do not meet all of them.
Updated Oct. 5, 2026
Primary sources first
We build each story on the primary record: the announcement, research paper, filing, regulation or official statement behind the news. Every factual statement in a story must match a specific passage in a source we have read, and the original documents are linked in the story's Sources so readers can go to them directly.
Our Sources link only to original material, such as the companies, labs, researchers, governments and courts involved, and the papers themselves. We do not send readers to other publications' summaries of the news.
Confirmation and attribution
A story can lead our front page only when at least one source outside the organization behind the news supports it, such as a partner, customer, regulator, court record or other news reporting. When only the company itself has said something, we attribute the news to the company and do not lead with it.
Claims belong to the people who make them. Performance figures, test results and business numbers are attributed to the company or researchers reporting them, and we say when a result has so far been shown only in a lab or only by its makers. When a fact comes only from another publication's reporting, we say it comes from a news report. We do not report rumors as news.
Clear explanations
We write for curious, intelligent readers who do not work in AI. Every story reports the specifics exactly and explains the one idea it turns on. We define technical terms the first time they appear, in wording checked against authoritative sources, and we give numbers their units and context.
We simplify the language, never the facts. Headlines say what the news means in plain words, and stories say what is still unknown.
How we use AI
We use AI so we can read the original documents behind the news and report throughout the day. AI systems choose, research, write, check and publish our stories, working to the standards on this page. A person does not review each story before it runs. Every story must pass automated checks on its sources, wording and image rights, and a separate AI reviewer, given only the draft and its sources, checks each sentence against them.
Each day, an AI review of the live site spot-checks our newest stories against their sources, and we correct what it finds. A human editor sets these standards and is accountable for what FrameSignal publishes. Stories are published under the FrameSignal name, without individual bylines.
Images and video
We illustrate stories with images published by the companies, labs and governments in the news, with public-domain and openly licensed images credited to their owners, or with our own graphics. We do not use stock photography or other publications' photos, and we do not use AI to create or change an image of a real person. Any AI-generated image is labeled as such.
The main video in a story is the official video from the company, lab, government or event in the news.
Outside reactions
Some stories show reactions from independent creators, researchers and commentators, chosen to show how a development is landing beyond the organization behind it. Reactions never come from that organization's own staff, from news outlets or from other publishers.
Independence
Coverage decisions are made on news value alone. No company pays for coverage, sees a story before it runs or approves what we write, and FrameSignal does not publish sponsored content. The AI models we use are made by companies we cover. Those companies do not review or approve our stories, and we report on them under the same standards as any other company.
Corrections
When we get a fact wrong, we correct the story and add a note at the end saying what changed and when. We fix typos, spelling and formatting without a note. If you spot an error, tell us through our contact page.
