Amazon-owned Zoox expanded its paid Las Vegas robotaxi service to Harry Reid International Airport in early September 2026, documenting app rides to and from both passenger terminals on its airport help page.
TechCrunch reported on Sept. 3 that customers could hail airport rides beginning that Thursday. LiveNOW from FOX described the move as Zoox's first airport transportation service and quoted Zoox policy director Ron Thaniel thanking the Clark County Department of Aviation and Nevada officials.
Zoox's airport page says riders pick airline and destination in the Zoox app. Terminal 1 pickup is on Level 0 near baggage claim and E Gates; Terminal 3 pickup is Level 0 at Door 55. Drop-off for Terminal 1 is at Departures/Ticketing; Terminal 3 drop-off is at Level 0 with escalators or elevators to Level 2. The company says trips to the airport take 20 to 45 minutes from pickup and that each of four riders can stow at least one bag no taller than 28 inches from the floor.
The airport add-on follows NHTSA's July 30, 2026 temporary commercial exemption for Zoox's purpose-built, steering-wheel-free robotaxi. The agency said the grant allows commercial deployment of up to 2,500 vehicles a year for two years under enhanced oversight. Zoox called it the first commercial exemption of its kind and said it cleared the federal path to charge fares. Independent desks including CNBC and the Los Angeles Times reported paid Las Vegas service starting Aug. 10.
Zoox lists live service in Las Vegas and San Francisco, with Austin and Miami marked as arriving. TechCrunch said Tesla, Uber, and Waymo recently received Nevada Transportation Authority permits for commercial robotaxi work in Clark County, and that those permits together would cover up to 8,000 robotaxis over 12 months. Uber plans Motional and Zoox partnerships. Zoox says it is currently the only robotaxi operator serving the Las Vegas airport; treat curb-versus-garage pickup comparisons as company claims until independently measured.
Cumulative rider totals remain contested across Zoox materials and press (half a million, nearly 1 million, and older 300,000 figures appear in different snapshots). California commercial permits for paid San Francisco service were still outstanding in August coverage.
